She made it! Kyah completed the entire Queensland Ballet Summer School. She loved every minute of it.
There was a “performance” at the end of today so the students could show us some of what they had learned through the week. Kyah was able to participate in 2 of the 3 genres. Understandably, she danced apprehensively, but she blended in well enough.
A huge thank you to the staff at QB for accommodating Kyah with her injury and choreographing her into the routines for the performances today.
Kyah made some new friends; the girls all seem lovely and we hope they maintain contact as the time passes. She also learned different teaching styles and personalities, and most of all I think she learned that her body is able to go a bit further than she thought it could.
5.5 straight days of dancing and her foot has held up. Amazing. What a great experience for her on so many levels.
Li Cunxin, the current Artistic Director of Queensland Ballet, spoke to us today about the value of participating in a summer school, and the experiences he had as a growing, developing dancer. I can see Kyah definitely benefited from all aspects he mentioned, as well as her personal development and confidence in her own ability again.
