Lots Going On

Lots has been going on and lots is coming up for the school holidays.

Our dear friends, the Howie’s, came up and we were blessed and were given  tickets to go and see “Outback Spectacular” with them. It is a really good show. 3 course meal, including drinks and almost 3 hours of entertainment. The entertainment was really good too. They had “The Light Horsemen” as the feature show and it was fantastic. Educational as well as entertaining. I thoroughly recommend it to anyone.  It is so nice to catch up with special people and seeing them was a real highlight in our last fortnight. Thank you Kylie and kids…

We have also had little catch ups with other friends over the last fortnight, which has been lovely – some of who have not been very well. The dreaded flu got hold of them. Thankfully, they are on the mend now.

Queensland Ballet had a performance on called “Dance Dialogues”. We went up to Brisbane and saw that. It was really good. The show was at the Thomas Dixon Centre, so it was much more intimate than if it had have been at QPAC or The Arts Centre. As expected, the standard of talent was amazing. The up and coming choreographers all did a fantastic job and it was well worth the effort. It is a great way for Kyah to see all the different aspects of the dance world. At the end we were fortunate enough to have a Q & A with Jack Lister. The other choreographers were Paul Boyd, Teri Crilly and Alice Topp. They are definitely worth looking out for new works in the future.

That evening we caught up with one of Kyah’s friends from her old dance school, Ebony. It was lovely to see her and her family and catch up on the goings on with them. Thanks for a lovely evening Ariane, Craig and Ebony.

The final week of school was a bit hectic with ensuring Kyah did all her school assessments and handed them in on time. It was pretty close at the end, but she got there….

She has been back to dancing twice since she tore the ligaments in her ankle. Her foot is getting better. I’m sure everyone is aware soft tissue takes a lot longer to heal than hard tissue – and it is a matter of time…. The time is almost up and her foot is getting a lot better, almost back to normal again. Unfortunately, she has missed a number of eisteddfods and obviously lots of dance practice, but that is what happens when you are injured.

We have had some amazing sunsets the last few days. Here is a photo of one from 2 days ago.

Amazing colours in this sunset

Kyah has also spent time with Emily and enjoyed it. Time away from school, dance, commitments and responsibilities is important for everyone. We went out on Friday night to watch a friend sing at a local club. It was nice to get out and about. Kyah is learning lessons about what not to do and how not to behave when she turns 18 and is able to drink alcohol. Need I say any more???

Today, Kyah participated in a Queensland Ballet workshop all day. She loved it. Her foot held up – it’s a bit sore, but no problems at all. No pointe work because of their age, so this was a good thing. She is now preparing for a Bangarra workshop this coming week and a workshop the following week with Expressions Dance Company. Both of these are contemporary dance companies, so the style will be quite different from classical ballet, and great for a change. It will also be good for Kyah to get back into dancing, see different styles and different companies and how they operate and whether she prefers that style of dance classical ballet. It is also a great way for her to dance and not be en pointe.  Her dad has come up to take her to the place each day. She is pretty happy about that.

2 Cor 1:22 God anointed you, set His seal of ownership on you, and put His Spirit in your heart as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
