Today Kyah went to dancing and wore her new her new point shoes with her En Pointe Orthotics (EPOs). Kyah said that they are very comfortable to dance in.
Kyah didn’t dance on pointe but Nika is developing her strength by doing relevės and rises in the pointe shoes. This helps with improving specific strength for pointe. It will also help with improving range, strength and function in Kyah’s foot again. Not to mention reinforce Kyah’s confidence and knowledge in herself that she has the ability to do it. This is such a psychological journey now.
Today is the first day we purposely didn’t strap Kyah’s foot. Psychologically she has wanted it strapped every day and it has been, unless we have simply forgotten to strap it. But now, I think Kyah is at the point where she realises she really doesn’t need the strapping tape. Physically, she does not need it. Again, it is a psychological issue – one that sKyah must overcome completely and quickly and I believe she will.
