Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day to you all, particularly to those of you that like to acknowledge loved ones today.

It is half way through February and we are just starting to settle in to life in Brisbane. We have had a few weeks of very unsettling stuff happening close to home, but it all seems to be resolving itself. So, fortunately, we are able to start relaxing, moving forward, and enjoying life up here.

The first difference we notice from life on the Gold Coast, is that it is hot in Brisbane! It is really hot! The humidity is amazingly high compared to the Gold Coast. Fortunately, Brisbane has some good shopping centres – namely Chermside, where you can easily spend your entire day. Need I say, we have frequented that a few times. I am aware the weather is hot in a lot of Australia, but it is unpleasantly hot here.

Kyah seems to be settling in to her school and dance routine. It is a fairly long day, but we are ensuring she is eating well, doing her rehab, and prehab, for all of her body and getting her much-needed sleep every night. So far, she is coping very well, with the big changes she is facing.

Kyah’s foot is not even bothering her! How amazing. No pain, no discomfort, no fatigue. She is obviously ready physically, mentally and emotionally, to take this challenge on. We are still praying for complete protection for Kyah. Psalm 121:7 -8 states it perfectly: The LORD will keep you from all harm – he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. We simply trust and obey.

We went down to the Gold Coast last weekend, to see a dear friend off. Clare was one of Kyah’s ballet teachers last year, and she has become a very dear friend of ours. Clare has managed to get a job dancing, with Universal Studios in Osaka. We are so very grateful to Clare for the confidence, skills, awareness, and optimism she instilled in Kyah. She was an absolute blessing – at the perfect time. Clare, we wish you all the very best life has to offer. May your time over there be fulfilling and joyous. We look forward to hearing all about it.

Today is launch day for the reference book I have written for dancers. “Core Strength & Stability for Dancers”.  So many people asked me to make notes of what I did with Kyah during her rehab, and so I have put it in a reference guide. The exercises can be used for most people, but there is definitely a dance element to it.

The book can be found here: http://www.corestrengthhq.com/product/core-strength-stability-for-dancers-ebook/

If you know someone who would be interested in the book, please refer them to the web site.

The Commonwealth Games are getting closer, and next week Kyah has to be down on the Gold Coast for 2 days starting rehearsals. She is really looking forward to it. What an opportunity of a lifetime! We are so fortunate and thankful to Queensland Ballet, because they have allowed her to take time off her busy schedule, to rehearse and perform with Bangarra at the Opening Ceremony. It is coming up quickly and will be here before we know it..

We are hoping to get out and about this weekend to do a bit of sight seeing. Maybe if the temperature isn’t too hot, we can do a wander through the Roma Street Parklands. The pictures look amazing. I think the time out, away from the hassles of life, will be good for both of us.

We are loving going to the fresh food markets on a Saturday morning. There are a few markets that we’ve been to: the Kelvin Grove Urban Village Markets and the markets over in West End. Both are good. West End has additional stalls – not just fresh food, which is nice to wander around. But Kelvin Grove Urban Village market has gluten free donuts – they are delicious! Oh such a hard decision, which one to go to.

This is where we spend most of our time when we are at home. It seems to be cooler outside than in, especially after 5.30pm. It is really pleasant.

We are making the most of our situation and we are looking forward to the opportunities Brisbane offers us.

Isa 58:11 And the LORD will continually guide you, and satisfy your desire in the scorched places, And give strength to your bones; And you will be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.
