Oh my gosh, today marks two years since Kyah’s accident. So much has happened in that time. It is amazing how good her foot is now. Looking at Kyah now, you would not know there was anything wrong with her foot, let alone something so drastic as the complete dislocation.
I sometimes go back to look at the photos, it is still very shocking to see. Even now, I am still amazed at the extreme dislocation and the miraculous healing and recovery Kyah has had. There is not a day that has gone by in the last two years that I have not thanked God for the miracle He provided for Kyah. We are just so thankful. He has given us promises of things to come and we are standing strong on those promises. They will come to fruition.
Isa 55:11 So is my word that goes out from my mouth; It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
Some people from our new church in Brisbane, New Hope Church, are aware of the injury Kyah had and the realisation of what an absolute miracle that we have been blessed with. We have been asked to share the testimony with the church in December. I will show the photos (to those who want to see them!), and tell them of the experience we had. After that, Kyah has been asked if she will dance for Song of Solomons. What a blessing to be able to share the testimony with others.
It is wonderful to realise how impacting Kyah’s testimony has been, and continues to be, for others. It has Inspired, encouraged and instilled faith and confidence in others on their own journeys. What a strange blessing this has been.
The last few weeks have been pretty busy. End of term three at school. Assessments and school work kept her out of trouble, along with dance commitments.
Kyah was fortunate enough to get to watch Aspire 18. This was a performance by the Pre-Professional Program in Queensland Ballet. Kyah really enjoyed watching it. She also got to watch the dress rehearsal of Cinderella . I watched one of the public presentations with our friend Deb, a few nights later. It was a lovely performance.
Last night we went to the launch of 2019 for Queensland Ballet. They announced the ballets and dances that will be performed in 2019. They will be performing Dangerous Liaisons, The Masters Series, Romeo & Juliet, Bespoke, The Nutcracker, Synergy, The little Green Road to Fairyland and Queensland Ballet Academy Gala. A really full, but exciting, line up of performances. We are both looking forward to it.
School holidays are on now. Kyah gets a week off dance and two weeks off school. She is resting as well as doing some strength and stability work, along with sorting out her bedroom and catching up on things she hasn’t had time to do. She has also had a few days out with different girlfriends; down on the Gold Coast, up in Brisbane. Tomorrow she has a couple of lovely girls coming over for the day. It is really nice to hear her laughing and enjoying herself.
One major achievement for Kyah is that she has just completed her Certificate 4 in Dance Teaching. It has been a pretty busy time for her to get that done, as well as her other school and dance commitments, but she has managed to get it completed. We are both really pleased with the effort and achievement.
We’ve done some food prep again, to ensure Kyah eats well … when she gets a chance to eat. Some cranberry, pecan and date protein balls, some falafels, and a zucchini slice. All really tasty and quite healthy. Easy to take to school and really easy to eat when there’s not much time.
We have managed to get to the Brisbane festival a couple of times. We saw the water and light show at Southbank. It is pretty cool to see it all come together. Photos just don’t do it justice, so sorry, no pics provided. We plan on going to see Riverfire on Saturday night. Apparently it is pretty good to see in real life. The only issue is the huge number of people expected t be there; but we will manage.
We got to see Susan and Ezra’s new little bub. She is only 5 weeks old in this photo. Babies are just so beautiful. Addilyn was just gorgeous It was just wonderful to nurse her. Babies are kind of foreign to Kyah but she managed to nurse Addilyn for a while.
Our celebration for Kyah’s two-year anniversary was a walk! Yep! I was talking to a friend and said as a “celebration” we should go for a walk. Her response was “Or perhaps take her out for an ice cream!”. Oh dear, my idea of a celebration and other people’s idea of a celebration activity are slightly different. We ended up going for a walk and we were watching the storm roll in. The lightning in the sky and hearing the thunder getting closer was really nice.
Not long to go until the end of the year. So much to happen before then. We have friends coming up, from Port Stephens, this weekend for 10 days. There will be lots of laughs and fun times with them here. The end of year performance for Queensland Ballet Academy is on at the end of October. We have friends coming up to stay for that too. They are all looking forward to seeing the show and Kyah dance.
