Well, again time seems to be getting away from me to do more regular updates.
Trips to Byron definitely take up time from our week. Kyah is doing rehearsals 3 days per week and some of these days are 5.5 hour sessions. She is absolutely loving it all. The teachers are great, the other dancers are lovely and being a part of a production is always exciting. Next week is the performances, so she is really looking forward to that. It will be a huge week with regards to dress rehearsals and performances, and we are hoping all goes well.
Kyah has had a birthday since my last blog and “the festival of…” lasted a few days. She received many presents, which she is always happy about! Got lots of phone calls, went out for milkshakes, saw friends, trip to the beach, and I took her to see The Royal Ballet perform Jewels. That is a lovely ballet. Very different to other ballets in the sense it does not really have a story line to follow. The choreography and costumes were amazing. The 3 different Jewels; Emeralds, Rubies and Diamonds, were each represented in a very different way. Again, The Royal did not disappoint.
Kyah was asked to open a function at Bond University on 24/5/17. The function was for BULWA (Bond University Law Wellness Association), Lady Justice in White. The organiser of the evening, Mikayla Brier-Mills, titled her dance “I am Inspiration”. Kyah had spent a couple of hours preparing, warming-up and was ready to go. 40 minutes before she was meant to go on, she was doing her final run through for spacing and she somehow managed to go over on her foot, yes, her left foot. She strained the ligaments in her foot and unfortunately, she was unable to perform. She was the only dancer, so Mikayla and Kyah improvised instead of Kyah dancing, they had a brief chat about Kyah’s injury and recovery so far. This was the first time Kyah has spoken to an audience, and all things considered, (her foot was aching, she was anxious about what damage had she done, she felt bad by not being able to perform, and so many other factors that were going on in her head), Kyah did extremely well to speak in public.
Kyah was most upset to have “let Mikayla and everyone else down”, but these things happen and there was really no way she could dance that evening.
Needless to say, Kyah is now doing ice, tens, massage with FSB, earthing, and whatever else she can in order to be ready to dance in 2 days for final rehearsals for A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Clare, the girl that has been doing Kyah’s solo dances is away for 7 weeks, so Kyah is going to see another girl close by, on a weekly basis for the little corrections necessary for each of her solo dances.
So again, our focus is on rehab and the race against time. Kyah has so many comps and workshops coming up, she really needs her foot to be back to perfect. We are believing for complete protection over Kyah and complete and immediate healing for her foot.
